Ascension Study

About This Work

Ascension Study is a vertical exploration of growth and transformation, carved in pristine white marble. The work rises as a meditation on the human journey toward enlightenment and self-discovery, each form ascending toward an infinite possibility. Standing at 2.2 meters, this private commission represents a defining moment in the artist's practice—the beginning of a dialogue between material and meaning that would characterize subsequent works.

Gold leaf accents have been carefully integrated into the work's surface, catching light at different times of day and creating a living, changing artwork. As the sun moves across the sky, new dimensions reveal themselves—shadows deepen, surfaces shimmer, and the marble seems to breathe. The gold leaf becomes a metaphor for transcendence, the immaterial meeting the material in a dance of light and stone.
